Gold and iPhones Confiscated from Two Turkmenistan Passengers at IGI Airport

On Wednesday, customs officials detained two passengers traveling on Turkmenistan Airlines from Turkmenistan to Delhi for carrying 538 grams of gold and other undocumented items.

The passengers, both holding Turkmenistan passports, were stopped at Indira Gandhi International Airport after an X-ray scan of their luggage revealed suspicious images. Acting on specific intelligence, customs officers carefully examined the baggage, which led to the discovery of the concealed items.

During the search, officials found a total of 538 grams of gold and four iPhone 16 Pro devices hidden inside two sealed tissue paper pouches.

Customs authorities are now conducting a further investigation to determine the origins of the smuggled goods and whether the passengers are connected to a larger smuggling network.

The seized items are being held by customs for legal proceedings, and the passengers are currently being questioned.
