China Claims Another Findings Of Massive Gold Discovery Months After $83 Billion
China may have struck gold—again. Just months after announcing a staggering $83 billion gold reserve discovery in Hunan Province, reports suggest that geologists have uncovered yet another massive gold deposit in northeastern China. If the claims hold, this could be one of the largest gold discoveries in the world, further cementing China’s dominance in gold production. According to South China Morning Post, this latest find spans an area of over 3 kilometers by 2.5 kilometers. Early estimates suggest that the deposit could contain a jaw-dropping 1,000 metric tonnes of gold, a find potentially worth billions. With gold prices soaring, the discovery could significantly boost China’s mining industry and reshape global gold markets.
The Science Behind the Find
This latest discovery owes much to China’s cutting-edge 3D geological modeling technology. Scientists have been using advanced imaging techniques and deep-drilling equipment to map underground gold veins with remarkable accuracy. This same technology was instrumental in the November 2023 discovery in Hunan, where geologists drilled beneath the Wangu field in Pingjiang County, uncovering over 40 veins of gold-filled rock.
At that site, geologists drilled to a depth of 2,000 meters, finding gold
concentrations of up to 138 grams per tonne of ore. The team now believes that gold deposits extend even deeper, potentially reaching 3,000 meters below the surface.
